Elisabetta Giambanco artista“HE WHO WORKS WITH HIS HANDS IS A LABORER.

HE WHO WORKS WITH HIS HANDS AND HIS HEAD IS A CRAFTSMAN.

HE WHO WORKS WITH HIS HANDS, HIS HEAD AND HIS HEART IS AN ARTIST “.

My quintessence as an Italian artist is in this sentence by  S.Francis of Assisi.

My name is Elisabetta Giambanco:

a woman working with her hands, with her head, but above all with her heart.

BIOGRAPHIC NOTES

I was born in Rome in 1964. Born into art, in 1978 I first approached the world of ceramics and eventually got to that of porcelain decoration, attending courses and seminars both in Italy and abroad. Thus I learned different techniques, while refining my skills and my artistic vision: modeling, decoration on majolica, first, second and third fire, wall decoration and glass fusion. Exploiting with skill and artistic sensitivity all these techniques qualifies me, in the end, as an all-round professional artist.

During my career I have taken part in a number of  contests, both in Italy and abroad, gaining recognition and awards. In particular, I was honoured to receive the GOLD AWARD for the work POMPEI in the International Competition “Mega Atlantic Porcelain Convention & Exhibition” Ipat 2018 Miami – Florida (USA). The following year, at the Italy Show 2019 Competition, on the theme “East, peoples and cultures”, my work “ASIA” won the first prize in the professional category. I have also taken part in various exhibitions in Italy and abroad: my artistic activity and works are discussed in several specialized magazines.

ARTS AND CRAFTS

My “Arts and Crafts” school and cultural association, founded in 2015, is located in Ostia in via Agostino Scaparro 9. Inspiration for its name was the famous “Arts and Crafts” artistic movement, born at the end of the nineteenth century thanks to William Morris in Great Britain, and rapidly extended to all fields of applied art. Accordingly, my school was born with the specific intent of promoting different kinds of artistic activities: painting, painting on porcelain (third fire), illustration, comics, jewelry and watercolor.

On several occasions, my students from the porcelain courses have participated in contests both in Italy and abroad, presenting their passionately decorated porcelain pieces. Each piece denotes the artistic personality and the skill of each student.

AN ALL-ROUND ARTIST

It is my desire to convey the timeless beauty of porcelain, an ancient but dateless art: the mastery acquired in the different techniques, through years of experience and studies with the best masters, also allows me to create very original works, combining porcelain to molten glass, ceramics and wood.

Vases, sculptures, wall decorations, tiles, plates, my inventiveness aims to try everything … My hand, with a clear and clean design but also full of pathos, can be found even in the decorations that personalize my home, such as the majolica tiles of my floors.

My works wish to communicate both the freshness and beauty of floral design, and the calm and serenity of classicism, as in the work “NAVE ROMANA”, presented at the “Italia Show 2016” contest on the theme:  “Peoples of the Mediterranean” . This work, in fact, received an honorable mention in the professional sector, as it perfectly blends three different techniques: the sea in fusion glass, the painted porcelain ship and the sails modeled in porcelain paste and then decorated.

In other works I have tried to make pathos, passion and emotions prevail, a vortex fueled by a skillful use of colors, as in the “INFERNO” Vase. This work found its inspiration in the “Divine Comedy”, the immortal work of our great Dante Alighieri.

“Art teaches nothing, except the meaning of life,” said the great writer Henry Miller.

And this is exactly what I aspire to with my work; transmit, with passion and humility, my meaning of life.
